We are hearing about the Google Pixel 5a since the beginning of 2021 & until now, there was no information on exactly when Google has planned to launch this year’s budget Pixel. Well, Jon Prosser from FrontPageTech has now spilled the beans by revealing that the Pixel 5a is launching this month on the 26th! So, the countdown has begun, as we now have almost three weeks left for the official launch. And if you don’t know, we already know how the Pixel 5a looks like, thanks to the leak back in February this year.
The biggest highlight of Google’s budget Pixel phones is obviously the price. Last year, the Google Pixel 4a (4G) launched for $349, whereas the one with 5G support launched for $499. Speaking of the Pixel 5a’s price, Jon revealed that the retail price will be $449! So, that’s $100 higher than the price of Pixel 4a 4G & $50 lower than the price of Pixel 4a 5G.
Speaking of the specifications, the Google Pixel 5a is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SOC, the same chip which powered the Pixel 4a 5G & Pixel 5 of last year. There is a 6.4-inch OLED with up to 90Hz refresh rate & a big 4,650mAh battery. The phone supports fast wired charging but no wireless charging. There is an IP67 rating, 6GB of RAM, and the same camera setup as the Pixel 5. This means a 12.2 Megapixel primary camera with OIS + dual Pixel PDAF + 1.4µm pixel size and a 16 Megapixel ultrawide camera.
So, for $449, do you think the Google Pixel 5a is a good value for money? Do let us know via the comments section below.
