Google Guarantees Android Updates For Google Pixel Until 2018

Last year, Google did something that most of the Android users didn’t like. We are talking about the end of Nexus series. From the beginning of last year, we were getting rumors and leaks of next Nexus phones, but then we got the Pixel devices ‘Made by Google’. There is no denying the fact that Pixel devices are still among the best Android phones that you can get. But, still, the Nexus series had a special place among the stock Android lovers. Anyways, the Google Pixel devices were introduced in October last year. If you are thinking that they are going to get every single Android update just because Google makes them, then you are wrong. Google just updated the schedule of Android Updates for Pixel devices that reveals the year up to which, Google guarantees Android updates for the phones.

Google Pixel Update Schedule

Well, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL will get Android Updates until October 2018 and Security Patch Updates till 2019. After that, there won’t be any guarantee from the company that the latest updates will arrive the phones. Google mentioned on its official website –

Google Pixel phones get Android version updates for at least 2 years from when the device first became available on the Google Store. After 2 years, we can’t guarantee additional updates. Pixel phones get security updates for at least 3 years from when the device first became available on the Google Store, or at least 18 months from when the Google Store last sold the device, whichever is longer. After that, we can’t guarantee additional updates.
