OnePlus 4 might be Skipped, Ceramic OnePlus 5 Coming in 2017

Before talking in brief about this news, let me explain a term called ‘Tetraphobia’. According to Wikipedia ( which is the best source to know about anything), in East Asian countries like China, Korea & Japan, number 4 is considered to be ‘unlucky’. You might be thinking what’s unlucky in number 4. Well, here is the reason –

“The Chinese word for four (四, pinyin: sì, jyutping: sei3), sounds quite similar to the word for death (死, pinyin: sǐ, jyutping: sei2), in many varieties of Chinese. Similarly, the Sino-Japanese, Sino-Korean, and Sino-Vietnamese words for four, shi (し, Japanese), and sa (사, Korean), sound similar or identical to death in each language.”

ONEPLUS SKIPPING THE 4?

So, this is the reason of Tetraphobia in these countries. The effect is seen in every part including the smart phone market. Most of the Chinese Smartphone manufacturers try to avoid using Number 4 in the name of their devices. For Example, Sony didn’t launch Xperia Z4 & instead unveiled the Z3 Plus.Similarly, Vivo skipped the V4 after the V3. Now, there are rumors that OnePlus is going to skip the OnePlus 4 & will directly launch the OnePlus 5.Also, the OnePlus 5 is going to have a ceramic build just like the Mi Mix.  What’s more? OnePlus works under BBK Electronics, a company that owns Vivo & Oppo. So, there are chances for such thing to happen.

Moreover, if the specifications are concerned, the OnePlus 5 ( or the next OnePlus Device) is expected to come with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 835 and 6 Gigs of RAM. The launch is rumored to be in 2nd Quarter of 2017. What are your views? Do let us know via the comments section. 🙂
