Last year in March, we got the Black Shark 4 & Black Shark 4 Pro gaming phones, and the significant difference between the two phones was the SOC. While the vanilla model had Snapdragon 870, the Pro version featured the Snapdragon 888. Both the phones had the same display, the same battery size, and the same charging speed. Even the camera setup was almost the same except for the primary sensor. Later in October, we also got the Black Shark 4S and 4S Pro. The chipset remained Snapdragon 870 for the 4S, but the 4S Pro got 888+ SOC.
Now, the brand is preparing to unveil the Black Shark 5 series, and this time, there are two phones named the Black Shark 5 & Black Shark 5 Pro. Today, Digital Chat Station shared the key specifications of both phones on Weibo.
So, as per Digital Chat Station, this time as well, the vanilla model gets the Snapdragon 870 SOC and up to 12GB RAM. This is interesting because we were expecting at least the Snapdragon 888 or 888+ for the vanilla model. There is a 6.67-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED with up to 144Hz refresh rate. On the back, the main camera has a 64MP sensor, and on the front, there is a 13MP selfie shooter. The battery size is 4,650mAh, and the charging speed is mentioned as 100W. Last year’s Black Shark 4 & 4S series phones had 120W charging, so we are expecting at least the same charging speed this time too.
The Black Shark 5 Pro has Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SOC and 16GB of RAM. There is the same 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel as the vanilla model. The primary camera on the back has a 108MP sensor, but the selfie shooter is the same. The battery size and the charging speed is also the same as Black Shark 5.
There is no 3.5mm headphone jack on either of the two phones, and for now, we do not know whether there is an under-display fingerprint scanner or a side-mounted one.
