Two months back in July, Asus launched the ROG Phone 2 in China with crazy specifications like Snapdragon 855 Plus SOC, 120Hz AMOLED display, 6,000mAh battery & more. Today, the Asus ROG Phone 2 launched in India & the company surprised everyone with the pricing. The price starts at Rs 37,999 & the best part is that last year, the ROG Phone launched at Rs 69,999, so Asus is super aggressive this time with the ROG Phone 2’s pricing.

The Asus ROG Phone 2 is a beast in every aspect. The design isn’t much different than last year except for the fact that there is now no rear-facing fingerprint scanner since it is now under the display. There is now an improved cooling system, thanks to the 3D Cooling chamber along with the external vent.

When it launched in China, it was the first phone featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SOC, which is better in terms of the CPU & GPU performance when compared to Snapdragon 855.

The display on the front is a 6.59-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate, the highest on any phone. So, if you think 90Hz AMOLED screen is smooth, it’s time to try 120Hz. Under the hood, as we said, there is Snapdragon 855+ SOC paired with 8/12GB RAM & 128/512GB storage. And yes, the storage is UFS 3.0.

A gaming phone is not known for its cameras but still, the ROG Phone 2 packs a pretty good set of cameras. There is a primary 48 Megapixel camera with Sony IMX 586 sensor & a secondary 13MP wide-angle secondary camera with 125-degree FOV. On the front, there is a single 24MP camera with f/2.0 aperture.

The rear camera can shoot 4K 60fps videos via primary camera & 4K 30fps videos with the secondary wide-angle camera. There is no OIS, but 3-axis EIS is present.

Talking about the battery, Asus nailed it here as well as the ROG Phone 2 has a massive 6,000mAH battery underneath & yes, this does make the phone heavy (240g) but if you want a phone that lasts longer even while playing heavy games, then the ROG Phone 2 is perfect for you. There is also support for 30W Fast Charging. The Asus ROG Phone 2 retains the amazing dual front-facing speakers with NXP TFA9874 smart amplifier. There are Quad microphones with ASUS Noise Reduction Technology.

On the side, there are Air Triggers which can be mapped to various controls in the game. There is an extra side-mounted 48-pin customised USB Type-C port as well for various accessories. And yes, the phone doesn’t skip on the headphone jack.

Well, coming to the Indian pricing, the starting price is Rs 37,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant & it’s Rs 59,999 for the 12GB + 512GB variant. Inside the box, you get an Aero Case, but if you go for the 12GB variant, you get a 30W Charger as well as an AeroActive Cooler II.

It is a Flipkart Exclusive device & will go on sale starting September 30 in India.
