Remember the Asus Zenfone 8? Yes, we are talking about that flagship phone from Asus with a compact form factor. That phone launched in May last year in Europe more than nine months ago. Today, Asus announced that it is launching that phone in India this month on the 28th. The phone will launch in India as the Asus 8z.
To recap, it is a flagship phone from Asus with an AG frosted glass back, and along with stereo speakers, it also retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. There is a flat panel on the front with a hole punch in the corner. The phone has a dual-camera setup on the back. Under the hood, Asus 8z has Snapdragon 888 SOC, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage. There is a 4,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging. There is no wireless charging.
In terms of cameras, the dual-camera setup includes a primary 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor with OIS and a secondary 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor for ultrawide shots. For selfies, there is a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor. All three cameras are capable of 4K video recording at 30/60fps.
Finally, Zenfone 8 launched last year with Android 11 running out of the box, but we hope in India, the Asus 8z will launch with Android 12.
