Xiaomi is all set to reveal a lot of surprises this year. Recently, we got a video that showed the foldable phone from the company which could mean that LG and Samsung are not the only ones launching foldable phones this year. Apart from this, Xiaomi and Redmi are now two independent brands as the company wants to focus on its ‘Mi’ series phones. We already know that Xiaomi will be one of the first to launch Snapdragon 855-powered smartphone and it could be the Xiaomi Mi 9.
A month back, the Co-Founder of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, posted an image on Weibo showing the rear camera setup of the upcoming Xiaomi device with a 48MP primary camera. He mentioned in the post that the phone is launching in January. Now, we are not sure if it is the Xiaomi Mi 9 since the first smartphone from independent ‘Redmi’ brand is launching on January 10 which is expected to have a 48MP rear camera as well.
Anyways, we got the full spec sheet of Xiaomi Mi 9 today, and by the looks of it, the Mi 9 is going to be a beast. Keep in mind that we don’t know if these specifications are 100% correct so consider them with a pinch of salt. Talking about the specs, the Mi 9 has a 6.4-inch display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. No, it doesn’t have an in-display camera. Instead, the phone has a waterdrop notch on top. It is an AMOLED Full-HD+ panel, and there is an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The processor powering the phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, along with X24 LTE Modem which was, when announced, the World’s first 2 Gbps LTE modem. There is a triple camera setup on the back that includes a primary 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, a 12MP secondary sensor, and a third ToF 3D sensor. On the front, the Xiaomi Mi 9 has a single 24MP Sony IMX576 sensor. So on paper, the camera department looks solid.
Android P runs out of the box with the MIUI 10 skin on top. There is a 3,500mAh battery underneath that supports the 32W Fast Charging. As per the source, the Xiaomi Mi 9 doesn’t support the Wireless Charging, so that’s weird.
