List of Phones To get the Android Oreo Update (Android O)

Every year, Google launches a new Android version. This year, as we all know, it’s the Android O or Android 8.0. So, Google has already announced the name of Android O as Android Oreo at the event that happened on 21st August. It was the same day on which the solar eclipse happened. Anyways, do you want to know if your smartphone is going to get the official Android O update or not? Well, here in this article, we are sharing the list of phones getting Android Oreo update.

ANDROID OREO – WHAT’S NEW?

Android O or Oreo is the 8th version of Android family which includes Android Alpha, Beta, Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Icecream Sandwich, Jellybean, KitKat, Lollipop, Marshmallow, and Nougat. With this new version of Android, you may or may not feel a much of a change as compared to Nougat, but there are some new features added in Oreo that make it one of the best Android Versions. Here are some of the coolest and the best Android O Features –

AUTOFILL

If you have used Chrome for windows, you know this feature pretty well. Your personal details like email, password, etc. are stored, and whenever you have to enter those somewhere, Autofill feature automatically does that and you don’t need to type all the details again. And yes, if you are concerned about privacy, all this happens with your permission. So, With your permission, Autofill remembers your logins to get you into your favorite apps at supersonic speed.

REDESIGNED EMOJIS

Android o Update new Emojis

2 minute of silence for our beloved ‘Blob’ emojis that we had in Android Nougat. In Oreo, there is no more ‘Blob’ emojis as Google has redesigned these. For some, these are better than previous design while the case is pretty opposite for others. Whatever the case it, there is no doubt that Emojis let us express ourselves in more ways than ever. Not just the redesign but Google has also added almost 60 new emojis to the set. Pretty cool, right?

PICTURE-IN-PICTURE MODE –

Probably one of the most awaited features in Android is finally here in Android Oreo. One of the best examples of this is YouTube app. Before Oreo, you cannot run a video in one frame while working in another app except for the split screen mode that is only available in Nougat. But with Oreo, the Picture in Picture Mode lets you play a video in PIP mode if you have minimized that app. This feature is perfect for those who like multitasking but also like to watch movies and shows on apps like YouTube, Netflix, etc.

NOTIFICATIONS DOTS

Ya Ya, we know iOS has this feature from Quite a long time, but in Android, it is way better. The Notification dots let you know that there is a notification in that particular app. These are just dots that have the same color as of the app. If you long tap on the app icon, you can have a quick glance at the notification so you can either read it by tapping or clear it by swiping away.

GOOGLE PLAY PROTECT

Most of us use the Google Play Store to Install the apps that we need because we think that apps on Play Store are free of all the malware and viruses. But, there are a lot of malicious apps in Google Play Store. For that, Google Play Protect is the feature added in Android Oreo that scans almost 50 billion apps daily to check if there is any malicious app or not. If there is any, it is removed.

There are a ton of new features introduced in Oreo, and a separate post is needed to explain all of them. You can check these out on the official Android O website.
